| Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and
Nano-bionics (SINANO), CAS is joint founded by Chinese Academy of Science
(CAS), the government of Jiangsu Province and the government of Suzhou city,
located in Dushu Lake Advanced Education District with elegant environment and
greenery sceneries, within the famous Suzhou Industrial Park. As one of
national scientific Institutes, our goal is to build her with a unique
characteristic, internationally influential institute in a certain degree
within 15 years. Specifically, SINANO will have the following characteristics: |

| Establish a structurally
sound core research and development (R&D) team with creativity but capable
of working constructively to tackle real world problems; Develop a flexible
system that allows project-based postgraduates, temporary high-level experts
and professionals to help solve the real world problems; Train professionals
that can help transform the local economy from “Made in China” to “Created in
China”; Develop an efficient protocol for speeding up the commercialization
process from the laboratory demonstration, with an effective platform for
entrepreneur all over the world; Conduct R&D aimed at solving problems of
national importance and at creating own intellectual property with real |

| Now all construction items
of Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics (SINANO) are undertaking,
supported by 393 millions RMB funded, including 158 millions RMB for the
construction of infrastructure, 175 millions RMB for purchasing research
equipments and 60 millions RMB for setting up the institute, the operation and
pre- scientific research. The government of Suzhou city allotted 66 thousand
square meters of land to SINANO for the building. The government also supports
the institute’s construction of infrastructure, such as power supply,
communication and internet etc. The institute plan to build 39.5 thousand
square meters in total, including 35 thousand square meters for scientific
research and supplementary rooms, 4.5 thousand square meters for teaching
postgraduates, technical training center and other purposes. By the end of
2008, we aim to establish 2-3 key divisional or regional laboratories, 1-2
national engineering center, and one technical training center and one
technology transfer center. |
